Heh… what a coincidence…
Daebi Mama turns two today and I’m glad my wife talked me into going and enjoying the place a few days ago.
And just so you’ll stop wondering… no, I didn’t get paid to write this piece.
My wife had been telling me about this place for a while.
And I’ve always been wary about Korean restaurants because they make you grill your own meat. But I eventually gave in and we went and now I wonder why I waited for so long to come to Daebi Mama.
Daebi Mama Korean Cuisine on Bacaca Road in Riverview Village followed that exact pattern and the result was the same.
We went, we ate, we added it to our growing list of favorite places to visit.
Today, Aguust 23, 2026, they’re celebrating their 2nd anniversary, which feels like the right moment to write about them.
Two years in the Davao food scene is no small thing, and if our visit a few days ago is any indication, they’ve earned every bit of it.
They’re also running a 10% anniversary discount today, which is a good reason to stop reading this and just go.
The place is open, well-lit, and spacious… my wife felt the lighting leaned a little to the industrial, which is a fair observation.
Me? I personally liked it.
Nothing hidden, everything visible, a bright room makes me feel like the restaurant has nothing to hide.
If you’re not familiar with Korean restaurants yet (like me), side dishes come with your order.
They’ll replenish once, which is a reasonable policy when you think about it… nobody wants to watch perfectly good banchan go untouched.
Daebi Mama also does the grilling for you.
For someone like me who just wants to eat without managing fire, this is a significant selling point.
Lyle made friends with kids from the other two families in the restaurant that evening and turned the place briefly into a small, cheerful chaos. The owner sent him home with free candies, which earned them permanent goodwill in this household.
Spacious parking with actual tree cover is an underrated luxury in Davao’s heat. That alone makes Daebi Mama my go-to for Korean food during daytime hours.
