After two weeks of anxiously waiting if I’m fortunate enough to make a comeback as a member of the DB Society (Davao Bloggers Society), I finally got some good news.
Oh yeah I’m back in the DB Society, baby!
After 5 years of waiting, I finally get to come back.
Oh, wait maybe just 4.
I became a member of the DBS in 2020 and it was one of the best memories I had before the pandemic. It seemed like the start of 2020 was full of good things.
I got married, and then became a member of the DBS.
I waited a long time to become a member of the DBS. I think it was back in 2012 or 2013 when I first heard of it and wanted to become a member.
Back then I was just managing a single blog.
This one.
Now, I have 6.
Four that are highly active:
One, called FilipinoWriters, that I really need to be more consistent posting articles in and the last one, Jectra, which I have to start doing some work on.
How I Got Started with Blogging
I was 18 when I started blogging. It was a natural progression from writing on journals and “diaries”.
It was also something I was very embarrassed about because I always thought writing stuff in a diary was meant for girls.
That changed though when I found out that my Lolo Tibs had an entire shelf of logbooks where he would write down his daily activities, things he’d learned, transactions, etc.
After that, I became more open about my writing and even shared it with my closest friends.
When my mom bought a computer, I immediately learned how to type entries into WordStar and create simple databases on Lotus.
And then I got introduced to the Internet. And boy did that open the floodgates. I spent countless hours just being online reading about superhero related stuff. I was still figuring out what I wanted to do online.
Oh I spent a lot of money back then on Internet because we had to pay something like Php 60 or 40 pesos per hour, I forget.
When I started writing my thoughts online, I didn’t really care if anyone was reading my entries or not. I still really don’t care for my personal blog on who’s reading but I do make a conscious effort for all the other blogs because I do want to provide some value to those who care enough to read what I’ve written.
Why Do I Want to be a Part of the Davao Bloggers Society?

Blogging can be a very lonely job.
Even if your work is reaching a lot of people, it can still prove to be very isolating.
And no one else really understands that feeling unless they’re a blogger themselves.
But other than being a part of a group with like-minded people, I know that there’s so much more I can learn about the profession I love and I won’t be able to learn it on my own.
I think I’ve barely scratched the surface on blogging’s potential effect on my life and everyone around me.
I also want to participate in fun events that could inspire me to produce more content. Back when I first started in the DBS, I was immediately included in a few events that were really fun. Haven’t removed that content on this website despite how long those events were in the past.
One of the things that I’ve been lacking in my bag of tricks is capturing images and videos. And I know that a lot of the members are really good at it and could be potentially great teachers that I can learn from.
So maybe this is the time when I start transitioning from just a simple blogger to a vlogger. Maybe being a part of the society will give me more confidence to start talking in front of the camera and relay my thoughts through spoken words and actions.
Lastly, I’m at an age where I want to share the things I’ve learned and I know I’ll have that opportunity in the group sometime in the future.
As long as I don’t fade away from membership again hahahaha.
I Highly Recommend Being a Part of the Davao Bloggers Society to Anyone But…
Yeah, I really do.
But to put it in proper context, I’m just recommending it to people who are interested in blogging and vlogging or other forms of sharing their thoughts and ideas online.
There are a few prerequisites though.
First of course is that you’ll have to be from Davao. It does say Davao Bloggers Society right?
Next, you really have to put in work to blog or vlog. I mean you can’t just apply for membership if you haven’t even written a single entry or shot a single vid right? I think this is the hardest part and it may take you years or days before you get to build a solid portfolio but trust me the process, hard as it is in the beginning, can be very fulfilling in the end.
Google Adsense has been very good to me since as far as I can remember and that’s the incentive I get for being consistent with writing as ide from getting some fulfillment that I achieved something after writing a thousand or so words per day as a minimum.
Amassing a ton of work doesn’t happen overnight.
It takes time and it will only start to build as soon as you start putting in the work.
You’ll also have to be consistent in putting in the work.
Oh there will be days when you won’t want to write or the inspiration doesn’t come to you easily. It’ll be hard to resist just giving up.
But if you can push past that feeling and just write or shoot a video, then you’re well on your way to success.
Good luck! Grind and always be on the lookout for DBS’ invitation to join their growing ranks.
Me? I’m back in the DB baby and I’m lovin’ it.
