Some things deserve a proper send-off.
We had one last discount card for Mr. Wen Café, and my wife and I decided the best way to use it wasn’t on a quick takeout order or a solo coffee run.

We’d use it the right way.
Together.
With Lyle.
With time to spare and nowhere urgent to be.
So that’s exactly what we did.
If you haven’t been to Mr. Wen Café along Mamay Road yet, a little background: we were actually there when it first opened its doors, as part of the Davao Bloggers Society coverage.

Our great experience during that first visit is the reason why we keep coming back. Add the beautiful interior with brick walls, big open windows, comfortable seats, the café de leche, the Super Kids play area that Lyle gets to play in.
Yeah, we knew we’d be back.
A lot.
We ordered Spanish lattes, settled into our corner, and just… talked.
About plans.
The farm.
The future.
Mr. Wen Café has a way of slowing things down without you realizing it’s happening. Like you’re in a time loop. Or warp. Or vacuum.
Lyle meanwhile disappeared into Super Kids for unli play time, which meant my wife and I could actually finish sentences without a small high-pitched voice interrupting us all the time. If you’re a parent you understand exactly how rare and precious that is.
The food, as always, is good, the coffee is consistently well-made, and the staff remains as composed and accommodating as they were on opening day.
That’s consistency.
And that’s very important because it helps set customers minds to what to expect every time they visit.
The discount card is gone now.
Spent well, spent happily.
But we’ll be back.
We’ll always be back.
