Although I love eating vegetables, I still consider myself primarily an omnivorous carnivore rather than a predominant vegetarian.

You see, I grew up eating rice and whatever protein was on the table, and the idea of a restaurant where everything is meat-free has always made me slightly skeptical about its success.

But my wife wanted to try it, and we ended up at Veggie Spot in Dacudao Agdao, and now I have to admit I really loved it.

Yeah… that’s the end of the review hehehee

Kidding aside….

We’ve been visiting Balai Belen because of Kapewenyoz and I remember vaguely that my wife mentioned Veggie Spot as a place she wanted to try once it opened.

Well what can I say?

The place is small and cozy, tucked inside Balai Belen along Garnet Street in RGA Village. It’s quiet and I like that.

It let’s the food do the talking.

No gimmicks.

No over-explanation.

Just good, plant-based food that happens to be good. Yeah, I said good twice.

I got the tacos.

My wife got the pork belly, which is not actually pork, but you’d have to remind yourself of that while eating it because the texture and flavor are genuinely convincing.

My tacos were satisfying… properly seasoned, well-assembled. I finished it in seconds and if only we had more time, I would have ordered a second helping.

Benefits of Eating a More Plant-Based Diet

The benefits of eating more plant-based food are worth knowing about.

A plant-forward diet has been linked to lower cholesterol and reduced risk of heart disease, better digestion thanks to higher fiber content, improved weight management, lower inflammation, and a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes.

You also tend to feel lighter after a meal, which I noticed.

No food coma.

Just pure satisfaction.

My wife and I are already planning our next visit.

That, more than anything, tells you everything about whether the food was good.

Veggie Spot is open Tuesday to Sunday, 9am to 9pm. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram at veggiespotph, or reach them at 0995 576 1495.

Go hungry.

Leave surprised. They mean it.
